Summer 2025: Special Evening Openings on Tuesdays
2025

From June 3 to July 22, the museum will close at 10:00pm on Tuesdays
The Accademia Gallery in Florence is extending its opening hours into evening every Tuesday this summer from June 3, to July 22, 2025. You will get a chance to visit the museum later in the day, since it will remain open until 10:00pm (last entrance at 9:15pm). This summer initiative has been appreciated in the last few years, as it gives both locals and visitors from all over the world the opportunity to enjoy an evening stroll inside the Gallery while admiring the permanent collections in a new light.
Michelangelo’s sculptures await visitors at sunset, yet the extended opening hours are a wonderful opportunity to also appreciate other masterpieces in the museum. Among these, the collection of paintings by Florentine masters from the 13th to the 16th centuries, among the most important at an international level. Off the Hall of the Colossus, with the plaster sketch by Giambologna depicting The Abduction of the Sabine Women, is the small room dedicated to the 15th century which houses two masterpieces including the so-called Cassone Adimari by Scheggia, Masaccio’s brother.
The Gipsoteca is not to be missed – housing the plaster portraits by Lorenzo Bartolini and Lorenzo Pampaloni – and neither is the Museum of Musical Instruments, which boasts a collection of around 400 instruments dating from the 16th century to more modern times, among these, three 16th-century spinets of great value and workmanship exhibited for the first time since last December.
The Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence is generally open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8.15am to 6.50pm (last admission 6.20pm) and, in summer, reservations are strongly recommended (at an extra cost of 4 euros). You can book ahead by telephone with Firenze Musei (+39 055 294883) or online here.
